As part of its role as a leading environmental incubator in Atlantic Canada, ACAP Saint John is set to undertake a collaborative Geographic Information System [GIS] program to increase stakeholder and rightsholder capacity for mapping, spatial data collection and public communication. The program would see a GIS analyst employed within our office who would be available on an ad hoc basis to assist on mapping projects, train users, to standardize and analyze datasets, and to produce mapping products with the goal of fostering collaboration toward an integrated approach to watershed management in New Brunswick.

In order to embark on this new initaitive, ACAP Saint John is surveying watershed groups, environmental non-profits and conservation entities from across the Saint John River watershed to determine gaps in capacity, existing datasets and long-term data or GIS management goals.
