Roxanne Mackinnon - Executive Director

Roxanne MacKinnon has over ten years of experience working on water quality and aquatic habitat projects. She received a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Biology, from the University of New Brunswick in 2011; as well as, a diploma in Environmental Technology from the New Brunswick Community College in 2013. Roxanne is currently completing her Masters of Science in Environment Management at UNB examining the effects of flow variation on aquatic community food webs. She has a keen interest in connecting environmental issues with community members and inspiring people to take local action.

Our Team

  • Conservation and Restoration Manager

    Aiden, from Belleisle, NB, has always been interested in wildlife and the environment they live in. In 2020 he completed his BSc in Environment and Natural Resources, with a major in Wildlife Conservation, from the University of New Brunswick. He also holds a diploma in Wildlife Conservation Technology from Holland College (2018). His work interests include studying wildlife, ecology, conservation, and habitat restoration. Aiden works on numerous wildlife conservation and restoration projects. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, fishing, and exploring nature.

  • Monitoring Coordinator

    Laura, a native of the north end of Saint John, joined the ACAP team in 2024 as the Monitoring Coordinator. She earned her BSc in Biology-Psychology from the University of New Brunswick in 2021. Laura's journey in the biology and natural sciences field began in 2012 through a high school co-op program at the New Brunswick Museum, leading her to diverse roles that enriched her expertise and passion for environmental work.

    At ACAP, Laura is eager to contribute to holistic restoration projects, seal monitoring, and water quality programs. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, gaming, photographing nature, and spending quality time with family, friends, and her beloved pets.

  • Engagement & Communications Specialist

    Ashraf joined ACAP in mid 2025 as our Communications and Engagement Specialist. He believes that the path to environmental stewardship is collective, and sees impactful storytelling as key to driving collaborative action. 

    For Ashraf, it all began with a visit to a landfill in 2017. The sight of the mammoth garbage mountains reflected a larger problem and marked the beginning of his journey into environmental conservation. He holds a graduate degree in computer engineering and a post graduate diploma in sustainable business practices from College of the Rockies, BC.  

    Outside of work, he’s passionate about soccer, enjoys reading, and learning music.

  • Climate Change Projects Coordinator

    Jack was born and raised in the Kennebecasis Valley, and he joined the ACAP team in 2023 as the climate change projects coordinator. In 2022, he completed his studies in biology and sustainability at Dalhousie University, during which he conducted research on sea-level rise impacts and urban forestry practices. Drawing on his education and diverse work experience which includes teaching piano and coaching soccer, Jack aims to inspire environmental stewardship and transformative reconciliation. Outside of work, Jack is very enthusiastic about musical and visual arts, as well as identifying living things - from insects to flowers, to trees.

  • Office Manager

    Tina is a born and raised Saint Johner that has a love for nature and office tasks. She started as the Office Manager at ACAP in November of 2021. She has a background with other office, administrative and management work along with coaching certificates through the International Coaching Federation from 2017 to 2020. She is happy to take over a lot of the office tasks so that the rest of the ACAP team can get out into the field, but also enjoys being in the field to help. In her spare time she enjoys crafts, walks on Bayshore beach and spending time with her grandson.

  • Field Technician

    Megan was born and raised in the Kennebecasis Valley and joined the ACAP team in 2025 as a field technician. In 2023, she completed her master’s degree in environmental biology with research focused on nickel toxicity to freshwater snails, after obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in marine biology in 2020. After completing her studies, Megan continued working as an aquatic research technician providing support for ongoing aquatic toxicology studies. Stepping into the field technician position at ACAP has her excited about contributing to sustainability and conservation efforts in the local community. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, camping, and spending quality time with friends and family.

  • Forestry Coordinator

    Shannon's passion for nature and conservation led her to pursue studies in Forest Technology and Fish & Wildlife Technology at the esteemed Maritime College of Forest Technology. They joined ACAP in the Summer of 2023 as a Forestry Technician and are excited about furthering ACAP's mission of conservation and sustainability. When they’re not busy protecting and exploring our precious forests, Shannon loves embarking on hikes with their dog, reading books, and enjoying the freedom of horseback riding.

  • Field Technician

    Mia joined ACAP in the spring of 2025. Growing up in coastal Newfoundland instilled them with a love for the ocean, which brought them to Saint John in 2017 to study marine biology at UNB Saint John. Since then, she’s fallen in love with the Bay of Fundy and made it her home. As a field tech, Mia loves to work on intertidal fishing, water quality monitoring, and watershed assessments. In their spare time, she enjoys sewing and upcycling, video games, and playing Dungeons & Dragons.
